Introduction
Born on 25th July in a small village Barpar in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh; Shashank’s heart and soul is entrenched in the spirit of Purvanchal.
Shashank’s educational journey commenced at Colvin Taluqdars’ College (Lucknow), where he won the coveted Jahangirabad gold medal in Sports and Athletics. His exceptional prowess led him to the prestigious IIT Delhi, where he donned the mantle of Deputy General Secretary for Sports Activity Boards. Under his astute leadership, IIT Delhi etched its name in history with its inaugural victory in the Inter IIT Sports Annual Competition.
Shashank’s academic brilliance at IIT Delhi resulted in a coveted position in a global oil giant, Schlumberger. His journey is a testament to unwavering dedication and exceptional achievement.
Patriotism and Public Service flowed through his lineage. His grandfather Suratnarayan Mani served as the District Magistrate of Gorakhpur and was the founder President of Gorakhpur University while his father Lieutenant General Prakash Mani , after 40 years of distinguished service in the military, served as the Member of Parliament twice.
Shashank’s father donned the Indian Army uniform in June 1955, serving in Jammu and Kashmir. Joining 63 Cavalry in February 1957, he later led as Squadron Commander in Nagaland from 1964 to 1965 and valiantly fought in Bangladesh during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
A doting father of two daughters, a proud husband, a friend and guide to the people of Deoria. He organized an Upanayan ceremony (sacred thread ceremony) for his daughters through a cultural function graced by India’s first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi. Rooted in tradition and reverence, the young girls were bestowed with the sacred janeu mirroring the tradition observed for boys.
Gauri Tripathi, Shashank’s wife, is a renowned Kathak dancer, celebrated globally for her artistry and skill. With grace and elegance that mesmerizes audiences, Gauri has carved a distinguished niche for herself through years of dedicated practice and artistic exploration. She has performed worldwide and has also choreographed Bollywood Trip in collaboration with Theatre Republique Denmark for the Olympic season.
