Professional Impact
As a partner with a well-known consulting firm, Shashank has contributed proactively as a Government Strategy & Transformation leader and in the field of Aerospace, Defense and Space. He has worked closely with the govt and was a part of several key strategy documents for the Government of India during his business consultancy years. He is recognised for leading an organised in-depth research on the topic “10 trillion dollar economy for India” in a document titled “Future of India-Winning leap”. Shashank was also placed as an official member in the Government of India appointed “5 trillion dollar Committee” by Mr Suresh Prabhu.
Everybody has a 'wow' moment and if one is lucky, several of them during a lifetime. I am possibly one of the few really privileged ones who meets amazing people literally most days of the year, which means / have a treasure chest of wow moments.
When I participated in Jagriti Yatra, it reminded me my youth days when we were in Gandhian Movement. Yatra was full of passion, energy and cheer. Jagriti Yatra is revolutionizing the youths of India by giving them exposure of positive India where aspirations and dreams of poor become true.
The opportunity to meet the young yatris of Jagriti Yatra was unquestionably a high point in my life. I was expected to inspire them, but it was the other way round, they inspired me! Our interaction was so energizing and so fulfilling!!

The year 2023 marks a unique milestone as Jagriti Foundation & Startup 20 are coming together to launch Jagriti-Startup20-G20 Yatra 2023? This will be a one-of-a-kind event that embodies the spirit of inclusive entrepreneurship, cross-border collaboration, sustainability, and innovation on both a national and international scale. It is set to be one of the world's largest entrepreneurship journeys ever undertaken, with a diverse cohort of 350 Indian participants and 70 foreign delegates from G20 countries working on case studies and projects related to G20 priorities.
I was part of 2017 Jagriti Yatra and had the opportunity to interact with like minded passionate entrepreneurs during my journey. I was inspired listening to Shashank and his mission. I started Anthill Creations in 2017 to bring playful and sustainable learning to children. We have worked with over 400 government schools across India to impact more than 200,000 children.

Shashank is inspiring. His journey over the decades from Gorakhpur to Delhi to London to Mumbai and finally back to Deoria is a testimony of his long term vision, planning and resolve to create a sustainable, entrepreneur led transformation in India, with Purvanchal being his Karmabhoomi. His relentless pursuit for embracing change reminds me of a dialogue from the famous series Chanakya “Rajpurushoon ki koi ichha nahin hoti”.
One of my greatest life experiences have been with Jagriti Yatra. And I got the opportunity to work closely with Shashank ji during few many Yatra. The yatra being organized consistently for close to two decides is testament to his visionary leadership.
Bringing about behavioural and thought level changes in people is quite a challenging job. In Jagriti Yatra the impact is massive and deep. We at GOONJ have seen this first hand with the Yatris. There is a vast change in their vision, thoughts and behaviour after the Yatra. The Jagriti Yatra, to me is a source of energy and inspiration, from the brightest 500 youth from all over the county.
Impact on Purvanchal
Shashank’s Jagriti has left a profound impact on over 20 lakh lives through the enterprises it has incubated. The story of Jagriti Enterprise Center- Purvanchal is all about combining local energy, aspiration, with the catalytic role of the outsider. The biggest factor that drives Shashank to keep strengthening JECP is that it has created 2000 local jobs and supports 5000 livelihoods across 7 districts in Purvanchal at the moment and the number is constantly increasing. Right now, the Jagriti ecosystem has been successful in creating a very strong and exemplary incubation and innovation movement in Purvanchal. Shashank feels elated that JECP has also empowered the women of Purvanchal and aims to make them self-reliant.
Jagriti spearheaded a Google India project 'iSathi' in 7 districts of Purvanchal that provided 17 lakh woman with digital literacy skills and created a network of 2300 women leaders who are now spearheading a transition in thought process of "Women Development to Women- Led-Development" in New India.
JEC-P envisions incubating 300 enterprises in for profit, healthcare, education and other sectors, creating around 10000 jobs, impacting 3 million lives in the next 5 years.
Pooja Shahi, who started a small-scale handicraft venture in 2008, is now employing over 400 women from her village as her products were included in the state government’s ODOP (One District One Product) programme, which has also helped her scale her production capacity from 50 pieces a day to 500 at present.
RC Kushwaha, the founder of a sanitary pads firm in the remote area, has not only generated employment for over 900 local women, but has also worked towards spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene in 900 nearby villages, meanwhile establishing an enterprise, accelerated by JEC.
Malti has successfully created a Food Brand Purvaiya ’ for her Pickle Business, in close partnership with another food start up that brings support around packaging and marketing.
